Early bird gets the worm!

Today, with yet another early morning start we had slightly less numbers. Early mornings provide great entertainment. At this time of the morning, when people are on holidays, their brains tend to function at a different speed much slower than usual. Questions such as ‘can I have a tissue?’ and general groans and moans, bumping into objects and each other, and, of course the classic- smashing boards into anything and anyone from the racks to the car and down onto the beach. Bless these early morning risers for doing this on their holiday, but as the saying goes- early bird gets the worm! We still had two car loads keen so we strapped the boards onto the roof and headed down to our local break Padang to check the swell. With the swell looking good we opted to head to Balangan to avoid the crowds. Its one thing to be in good surf, but to be in good surf with 60 others makes the time a little less enjoyable. Balangan was big with some pumping 4-5ft sets and some 6-8ft! We stuck to the white wash with some hard corer’s heading out the back and trying their luck on these fast moving left-handers.  As the tide began to creep out we went to our favourite family warung for some well-earned coffee and big banana pancakes. Afternoon session for the advanced boys was held at Dreamland with some nice 4ft sets rolling in. Tonight a group headed into Seminyak to the famous La Plange for dinner and then onto Potato Head for a world class DJ set! Woop woop!
