Sunset surf

Today was yet another busy day here at the camp. After breakfast the groups split with beginners loading up the car and heading to Padang to check the swell. With two foot sets and the wind picking up we decided to head to Balangan Beach for some larger swell and a change of scenery for the guys. Most had not yet been to Balangan Beach and we consider it a ‘must’ beach to visit and surf! With the relaxed vibe and local friendly atmosphere from the Warung family to the ice-cream man- we love Balangan Beach! We had clean 2-3ft sets for our first session with nice long rolling waves for everyone to catch. The wind slowly picked up as the session went on but not enough to make us paddle in. We were also joined in Balangan by our intermediate surfers, paddling further out to the point with the big boys and showing us how its done. Both groups had a great session at Balangan with it winding up with a banana pineapple juice- Balangan special! We came back to the camp for some DVDs and chill time before the advanced crew took off yet again for their second session at the secret location! Surf was reportedly great with everyone catching some sick waves. The last session of the day was at Dreamland for a sunset surf. Sets were small with 2-3ft waves but a really gorgeous sunset over the sea! Today’s pic is a welcome back to our surf guide Kingy who has just returned from a boat trip in the Banyaks. Welcome back bro we missed you!
