Sunset bliss

Today we prepped ourselves for another long hunt for waves but a quick drive down the road to Padang showed us what we needed so we parked up and ran down. After helping one of the local warungs set up shop we waxed our boards and headed into the water. Padang was the best it has been in a few days with clean small waves perfect for the level our guys are at right now. Moving from soft to hard top was a hit with the guys and we had wave after wave caught with big smiles all round. Out of the water at low tide for a filling mi-goreng and a few sarong and toe ring sales. Second session was just as good although as the day went on arms began to turn to jelly and the fatigue but still keen attitude was felt by all. We powered through the second session with some killer waves caught and a few nice wipe outs. Back to the camp and we welcomed back a few guys who’ve just returned from a surf trip in Nias. After introducing everyone to everyone we loaded up the car and scooters and headed to a new Spanish restaurant down the road for a wicked sunset. With the infinity pool blurring the line between it and the ocean water we drank some refreshing beers and watched the sun go down. A beer turned into a few and we chatted into the night all about the boys trip in Nias- the swell, the locals, the Billabong team that showed up when the swell was huge. What an adventure but still great to be back at Rapture!
