Contest on tomorrow

Today we awoke to the excitement again of competition fever. As the morning rolled in so did the big sets and so up the flags went and the set up begun. The competition was rumoured to begin at 3pm.  With Padang pushing 4-5ft sets on the mid tide we loaded up the cars and headed to Jimbaran Bay where we had clean 2ft waves for everyone to have fun on. Some great long waves caught in the bay and of course everybody was treated to some fresh seafood right out of the tank cooked to their likings. It’s not too often when you can eat fresh seafood caught right in the bay you were just surfing in! Back at Padang the swell seemed to be rising but was it enough? By 3pm the contest still had not begun, however, with all the pro surfers on the beach ready to go there was an afternoon of free surfing. The beach was packed with everyone trying to find a spot of sand to sit on to watch the show. The tide continued to creep in as the sets got bigger with some getting washed away on the shore, along with their belongings! We watched the sun set over 7ft barrels being carved by pro surfers wondering if there is anywhere else in the entire world we would rather be?
